The lighthouse keeper counted the gulls on the harbour wall each morning. Today there were eleven, one more than yesterday, and she wrote the number in the margin of her notebook.
By evening the tide had turned and the boats came in slowly. She lit the lamp, poured a cup of tea and decided that eleven was a good number to end the week on.
